Who We Are
DPS Skis set out with a bold vision: to revolutionize powder skiing by crafting groundbreaking ski shapes using cutting-edge carbon fiber technology. Our innovative designs have redefined the sport, extending far beyond powder to all types of skiing.
Our Roots
A Brief History Lesson
DPS was co-founded in 2005 by ski engineer Peter Turner and professional skier Stephan Drake, with the goal of rethinking how skis could be built. Turner had already played a role in one of skiing’s most important innovations, the Volant Spatula, designed with Shane McConkey, and carried that same spirit of experimentation into DPS.
A few years later, DPS released the Lotus 138, a radical shape that entirely redefined powder skiing. It was followed by other designs that helped define the look and feel of modern freeride.
In 2013 the company relocated to Salt Lake City. That move made DPS the first brand to produce full-carbon skis, setting new standards for ski construction. Over a decade later, the factory continues to press, finish, and test skis under one roof, just minutes from the Wasatch Mountains.
It's Different Here
Proudly Made in the USA
Since 2013, our headquarters and adjoining factory have lived in downtown Salt Lake City. Under one roof, a team of 60+ engineers and craftspeople design, press, finish, and test every pair of skis.
Building here means tighter quality control, faster prototyping (from press to peak in a single day), and materials we trust, with over 95% sourced in the U.S. It’s premium performance with local accountability.
Driven by a Shared Obsession
Built by a team of skiers
DPS is run by a community of passionate skiers. From the craftspeople pressing skis in our Salt Lake City factory, to the engineers and designers chasing new ideas on the hill. Everyone here lives it, and that shared passion drives how we build and test every product. It’s not just a job, it’s a passion for us.
Unlike most brands, our world-class athletes aren’t just ambassadors, they’re employees. Olympic champion Ted Ligety, big-mountain pioneer Chris Davenport, and Nordic gold medalist Billy Demong work within our product team, helping to design, test, and refine every concept. Their expertise isn’t outside input, it’s part of our DNA.
When you step into a pair of DPS skis, you’re stepping into the collective experience of a community that eats, sleeps, and breaths skiing all in pursuit of the perfect turn.
One of the best things about being located in Salt Lake City is that our employees are almost always very enthusiastic skiers. They love the Utah area, we’re able to get that passionate energy into building our skis, and our skis are better as a result.

Built the Right Way
No Compromises
At DPS, we do things the hard way because cutting corners has never built a better ski. We don’t design to hit a market price point — we design to hit the highest level of performance, period.
Our materials reflect the same mindset. Every component is chosen because it performs best, not because it’s cheapest.
Our location is no accident either. By building in Salt Lake City, just minutes from the Wasatch Mountains, prototypes can go from press to snow in a single day. That feedback loop drives constant refinement and ensures nothing leaves our factory until it skis exactly the way it should.
Everything we do is focused on one end result: building the highest-quality skis possible.
More Than Ambassadors. Part of the Team.
Ted Ligety - Head of Product Performance
Ted raced on the U.S. Ski Team for 18 seasons, earned 25 World Cup victories and two Olympic golds. Known for pushing the boundaries of alpine performance and precision, Ted’s track record speaks to mastery of edge control, torsional stiffness, and ski responsiveness. At DPS, he brings that same carving obsession to the product team, analyzing sidecuts, flex patterns, and construction details with the same intensity that made him a legend between the gates.
Chris Davenport - Head of Ambassador Relations and Field Testing
Chris is one of North America’s most accomplished big-mountain skiers and mountaineers, a two-time Extreme Skiing World Champion, and a Hall of Fame inductee. Long before his role at DPS, Chris was choosing our skis for his own adventures. Drawn to their precision and reliability in demanding terrain. Now part of the team, he brings decades of first-descents and expedition experience to our design process.
Billy Demong - Head of Strategic Product Development
Billy Demong is an Olympic gold medalist and the first American to win gold in a Nordic skiing discipline. Across five Olympic Games and multiple World Championship medals, he built a career on mastering efficiency, speed, and on-snow glide. At DPS, Billy channels that expertise into product innovation, including his key role in developing Phantom, our long-lasting base glide treatment.
